Woodland Hills, Valley Split Doubleheader
Kevin Millar’s three-run home run sparked a four-run eighth inning that erased a 3-1 deficit and carried the Woodland Hills Astros to a 5-3 win over the Valley Rangers and to a split of a National Baseball Congress doubleheader Saturday.
The Rangers won the first game, 4-2, on Joey Speakes’ three-run homer in the sixth. Louis Birdt earned the win in the opener, coming on with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth and retiring five consecutive batters.
The split left Woodland Hills with a 5-4 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Golden State League play. Valley is 2-4.
