Hawks Expected to Trade Webb
The Atlanta Hawks will trade point guard Spud Webb to Sacramento for shooting guard Travis Mays, several newspapers reported.
According to the reports, the Hawks also have dealt the rights to their second first-round draft pick, Anthony Avent, to Denver for 7-foot center Blair Rasmussen.
Atlanta General Manager Pete Babcock would neither confirm nor deny either trade but is expected to announce both trades Monday, when players officially become free agents and their salaries no longer count against the salary cap.
Sacramento General Manager Jerry Reynolds would not confirm that a deal has been made for Webb, but did say his team has acquired “a veteran guard who is small and very quick.”
