Tom Shales (Commentary, June 23) has a fine opinion of David Letterman, but I found him sadistic, overbearing, rude and soporific. Jay Leno I find amusing, good for some chuckles and laughs and with a sharp edge to his wit which possibly passes the understanding of a professional critic.
