Pump Malfunction Floods Floors in Federal Building

Share

The top three floors of downtown Los Angeles’ Federal Building were flooded Tuesday after a pump in the building’s cooling system malfunctioned, fire officials said.

“Eighty percent of the roof was covered with five inches of water,” said Fire Department spokesman David Holcomb.

Drain holes on the roof of the building at 300 N. Los Angeles St. were clogged by materials being used to cover the roof, and the water flowed through cracks and crevices into offices on the eighth, seventh and sixth floors, authorities said.
