Bryan Twins to Play for Doubles Title
Twins Mike and Bob Bryan of Camarillo will play for the Boys’ National clay court doubles championship after recording a victory in the semifinal round Thursday at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The Bryans, playing in the 14-and-under division, defeated Porter Jones and Mark Loughlin in the semifinal round, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4. The Bryans, who are 13, have won five consecutive matches after entering the tournament as the 13th-seeded team.
The Taiwanese Olympic baseball team will play an all-star team composed of players from the L.A. Basin Collegiate League in a two-game exhibition series later this month.
The games will be held at UC Irvine on July 30 and 31 at 7 p.m. Teams will use aluminum bats in the first game and wood bats in the second.
