San Diego
A 54-year-old transient sleeping beneath a truck trailer was killed Tuesday when the driver pulled away from the loading dock, authorities said.
Robert Earl Richmond was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:15 a.m., said Charles Kelley of the coroner’s office.
The accident occurred at the loading dock at 228 6th Ave. in downtown San Diego, Sgt. Mike Gibbs said. Richmond did not wake up when the truck began to move, and his head was crushed by the trailer’s rear wheels.
The driver, who was not identified, was not cited.
