Spring Valley
A motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet lost control of his vehicle and was fatally injured in Spring Valley early Saturday, authorities said.
He was identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner as Stephen M. Strecker, 21, who lived in the 3800 block of Calavo Drive in Spring Valley.
Strecker was driving his Honda motorcycle east on Austin Drive at 2:55 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn and struck first one curb then another, said a spokesman for the Medical Examiner.
He was thrown from the motorcycle and skidded down the roadway, coming to rest 516 feet west of South Barcelona Street, the spokesman said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
