Dinner at Eight (Showtime Monday at 10 a.m.) George Cukor’s sparkling 1933 film of the Kaufman-Ferber Broadway hit has an all-star MGM cast, featuring most memorably, Jean Harlow, Marie Dressler and John Barrymore.

Elvis on Tour (TNT Monday at 9 p.m.) and Elvis: That’s the Way It Is (at 11 p.m.) are musts for Presley fans, even though the first (filmed in 1972) is not as good as the second (1970), and even in the second Elvis is not exactly at his best. This is the Elvis of the Las Vegas showroom, sash and glitter period--but far from his worst. The movie shows full-throated, hip-shaking rehearsals and performances where the rooms cook, sweat flies and blue suede shoes keep peeking through the Gucci pants.

Shirley Valentine (Cinemax Saturday at 4:20 a.m.) Pauline Collins is irresistible in the title role of this 1989 British film, playing a pretty, 42-year-old working-class housewife who takes off for Greece, where she unexpectedly finds romance with an islander (Tom Conti). There’s some creaky plotting along the way, but with Collins aboard it hardly matters.
