On Prime Ticket’s replay of last Saturday’s exhibition between the Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, commentators Joel Meyers and Al LoCasale, a Raider executive, never mentioned that quarterback Steve Beuerlein sat out the entire 1990 season.

Beuerlein, embroiled involved in a contract holdout last summer, had not dressed for a game since December of 1989. He received an warm ovation when he entered the game in the fourth quarter. The commentators reasoned it was because Beuerlein was a local product, having graduated from Servite High School.

The Raiders and Miami Dolphins will conduct joint practices Thursday and Friday. Because the Raiders are playing an overseas game, they are allowed by the NFL a fifth exhibition game.

“I think the fifth game is good,” Coach Art Shell said. “Of course, it would be nice to play in Canton, Ohio (in the Hall of Fame game), but I’m looking forward to it.

The Raiders return to their Oxnard training camp Aug. 5.
