Pico Rivera : City Seeking Applicants for Redevelopment Panel

The city has announced it is accepting applications for vacancies to Pico Rivera’s Project Area Committee, the citizens committee that oversees city redevelopment areas.

The committee meets regularly to advise the city Redevelopment Agency on matters that affect residents and business owners in redevelopment zones. The committee also reviews all projects involving new housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

Pico Rivera recently doubled the size of its redevelopment areas, which now encompass about 30% of the city. A citizens group has protested the expansion, saying homes and commercial properties are vulnerable to condemnation to make way for new developments. In response to the protest, the City Council included a provision in the redevelopment plan that will exempt owner-occupied single-family homes from condemnation.
