STANTON : Fire Displaces Four From Mobile Homes

Share

A car parked between two mobile homes caught fire early Tuesday morning, setting the homes ablaze and displacing four residents, fire officials said.

Residents in two homes at Villa Capri Mobile Homes on Stanford Avenue were awakened by smoke alarms and escaped unharmed, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the County Fire Department.

“The important thing here is their smoke detectors were working and they were able to get out safely,” Sabol said.

The Fire Department received the call at 12:52 a.m. and responded within seven minutes with three engines and a truck company, Sabol said. The fire was contained within 13 minutes, she said.

Anna Rose Harlan, 79, her daughter, Judy Lynn Davis, 39, and a granddaughter were displaced from one home, and the mobile home of Doris McCormick, 75, was also damaged in the fire, Sabol said.

Total damage to the two homes and to two cars parked between them was estimated at $16,000, Sabol said. Fire officials said the blaze was touched off accidentally, but the cause was not immediately known.
