A passenger in a car driven by a suspected drunk driver was killed early Tuesday when the vehicle swerved off Pearblossom Highway and slammed into a tree near Littlerock, authorities reported.
Clark Dierk, 25, of Pearblossom was driving east on the highway about 1:55 a.m. when he apparently lost control of the automobile, stated Officer Juanita Rodriguez of the California Highway Patrol.
Dierk was treated and released from Palmdale Hospital Medical Center for injuries that he suffered in the collision, the officer said.
Dierk was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, according to Rodriguez.
The identity of Dierk’s passenger, a 21-year-old Littlerock man, was not released pending notification of relatives, authorities said.
