PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Marinovich Expected to Play Monday

The waiting may be over for rookie quarterback Todd Marinovich, who is expected to make his Raider exhibition debut Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium.

“It is favorable,” Coach Art Shell said Friday of Marinovich’s chance of playing. “There’s a good chance.”

In the quarterback rotation, Marinovich will follow starter Jay Schroeder and backups Vince Evans and Steve Beuerlein.

Shell said the Raiders will keep Marinovich’s debut as low-key as possible. “Look, we won’t overload his brain if he does get in there,” Shell said. “We’ll try to give him as small a package as possible, things that we know he can do well and understand, then allow him to just play.”

Defensive end Mike Wise, who left camp Thursday because of reported personal problems, returned briefly Friday but departed again after a discussion with Steve Ortmayer, the team’s director of football operations.

“Nothing has been resolved,” Shell said. “He came back, but it’s still not resolved. It’s still on hold.” Shell didn’t know whether Wise would rejoin the team for the Dallas trip. “I expect him to, but I couldn’t answer that right now,” Shell said.

Just change, baby: Photographer Mary Sagala, who said she was in town to shoot a Raider photo layout for the Los Angeles Athletic Club, was ordered to change her clothes during the team’s afternoon practice because owner Al Davis considered her outfit “distracting to the players.”

Sagala was warned by senior administrator Morris Bradshaw to “dress down” for the practice, but she appeared in a top jacket and Spandex tights. She redressed at mid-practice, returning in a more conservative pants suit.
