Cab Driver Stabbed During Robbery

A San Diego cab driver was robbed and stabbed several times late Saturday night after he stopped to pick up a passenger, police said.

The driver, who was not named, picked up a fare in the 2600 block of C Street about 9 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said the suspect stabbed the driver several times and then stole his cab. The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released, hospital officials said.

The suspect drove to Julian, where at 12:44 a.m. he crashed the car, police said. The suspect, whose name was not released, was taken into custody and the car was recovered, police said.
