Van Nuys’ Rally Falls Short in Babe Ruth Game
Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks will play in a losers’-bracket game today against Paradise Valley, Ariz., after it lost to host West Jordan, Utah, 8-6, Tuesday in a Babe Ruth Pacific Southwest regional game.
Trailing, 5-0, in the fifth inning, Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks closed the gap to 5-4 on a two-run single by Randy Wolf and a two-run double by Cesar Villagrana. But West Jordan scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, aided by four walks and a hit batter. Starter Villagrana took the loss.
Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks is 2-1 in the tournament.
