The body of a 30-year-old man was found Thursday morning on a dirt road east of St. John’s Seminary College in Camarillo, a Ventura County sheriff’s spokesman said.

The man, identified as Mark Huss of Camarillo, was found by farm workers at 7:30 a.m. on Worth Way, a road that begins as a driveway and turns into a dirt road, leading to citrus orchards, Lt. Joseph Harwell said. Huss was clothed in pants and boots, but no shirt.

“We don’t have an obvious cause of death,” Harwell said. “But we are treating it as a homicide at this point, until the coroner establishes the cause of death.”

“It appears that he may have fallen,” Harwell said. “There is an injury to his head . . . and scratches on the upper body that could have resulted from a fall on the ground, but there is nothing to indicate a fight.”

A report on the cause of death is expected today by the coroner’s office. Harwell said coroner investigators believe that the body had been in the area about 12 hours before it was found.
