PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Dyal, Patten Are Placed on Injured List

Share

The Raiders placed tight end Mike Dyal and tackle Joel Patten on the physically unable to perform list. Both players are recovering from off-season knee operations and did not pass training camp physicals.

Dyal and Patten are required to miss the first six regular-season games before becoming eligible to return. It’s another setback for Dyal, the team’s starting tight end in 1989, who spent most of the 1990 season on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury. Patten was a Plan B free agent from the San Diego Chargers.

The Raiders released linebackers Todd Woulard and Jono Tunney.

Coach Art Shell on today’s cut to 60 players: “It’s going to be difficult. You wish you could keep 60. You wish you could keep 80. The rules say you can’t.” . . . Right guard Max Montoya suffered a slight groin pull in Saturday’s victory over the Chicago Bears. . . . The Raiders’ final exhibition will be Friday night at 7 against the Chargers at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium.
