This weekend’s fare can be described as light at best, highlighted by a pair of Dodger baseball games and IAAF World Track and Field Championships.

Baseball: The Dodgers will take their slim National League West lead into St. Louis for games against the Cardinals at 5 p.m. today and 11:15 a.m. Sunday on KTTV Channel 11. The Atlanta Braves will continue their pursuit of the Dodgers, with home games against the Philadelphia Phillies at 4:05 p.m. today and 11:15 a.m. Sunday on TBS. The Angels, last in the American League West, will play host to the Boston Red Sox at 7 p.m. tonight on SportsChannel. Two of baseball’s biggest disappointments--the defending World Series champion Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets--will play at 10 a.m. today on Channels 2 and 8, and at 5 p.m. Sunday on ESPN. And heavily favored Taiwan will take on San Ramon Valley, Calif., for the Little League World Series Championship at 4 p.m. today on Channels 7, 3 and 42 and at 3 p.m. on KGTV Channel 10 in San Diego.

Other Sports: The Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears will close out the National Football League’s exhibition season at 6 p.m. tonight on Channels 2 and 8. The NEC World Series of Golf is scheduled to tee off at 1 p.m. today and Sunday on Channels 2 and 8. NBC (Channels 4, 36 and 39) will cover the IAAF World Track & Field Championships at noon today and Sunday and the Miller Lite U.S. Championships of beach volleyball at 2 p.m. today.
