SANTA ANA : Information Sought on Fatal Shooting

Police are asking the public for information regarding a Monday night shooting involving two cars on Newhope Street that left one man dead after two people in another car opened fire.

The victim, Hien Huynh, 18, of Garden Grove, was mortally wounded while driving his gold Acura at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Newhope near Sunswept Avenue, Santa Ana Police Lt. David Salazar said.

Salazar said Huynh was headed south when the second vehicle pulled alongside his car and the shots were fired. Huynh, who had a passenger, was able to bring his car to a stop. A passerby gave medical aid and then notified police.

But by the time paramedics and police arrived, Huynh was dead and his passenger had left, Salazar said.
