Motorcycle Passenger Dies After Collision
A Van Nuys woman died after the motorcycle she was a passenger on collided with a car in Woodland Hills, authorities said Wednesday.
Diane Sparling, 25, whose skull was fractured, died late Tuesday at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills, hospital spokeswoman Pamela Spencer said. Her husband James Sparling, 26, who was driving the motorcycle, was treated at the same hospital for a broken leg, Spencer said.
The Sparlings were headed east on Victory Boulevard about 6 p.m. Tuesday when their motorcycle collided with a car making a left turn from a westbound lane of Victory onto southbound De Soto Avenue, Los Angeles Police Officer Ralph Kemptner said.
The driver of the car, Deirdre Zito, 25, of Northridge was not injured, he said.
No one has been charged in the case. Kemptner said witnesses gave conflicting accounts of the accident.
