Release of Mud, Silt Poses Great Danger

Share

The people of Azusa and Duarte (who already live in one of the most polluted areas in the United States) are about to be threatened, thanks to the Department of Public Works of the County of Los Angeles, by the potentially most catastrophic, destructive, life-threatening release of over 16 million cubic yards of river mud and silt. In laymen’s terms, this is equal to 1.6 million concrete trucks of mud.

The silt and mud will be flushed out of the Morris Dam down the virgin San Gabriel River bed, to end up at the Santa Fe Dam area.

This action will completely destroy all life in the river by depositing an unknown thickness of silt in the river bed.

The residents of Azusa and Duarte should know that the city of Azusa has received no support from any organization, including the city of Duarte, in our attempt to stop this devastation.

In closing, when the silt dries and the winds blow, watch out Azusa and Duarte, here comes the big one.
