La Canada Flintridge : Sewer System Proposed

Share

A representative of the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts proposed that La Canada Flintridge convert from its existing individual septic tanks to a sewage system connected to Pasadena.

David Bruns, supervising civil engineer in the districts’ financial planning and property management section, told the City Council on Tuesday that the connection, crossing the Arroyo Seco and the 210 Freeway, would cost about $4.8 million.

Residents would be required to pay $280 per year with a one-time connection fee of $1,000. Businesses would pay $3,400 to $8,700 per year with connecting fees ranging from $9,000 to $18,000, Bruns said.

Bruns told the council that the city could qualify for low-interest loans from the State Water Resources Board to help finance the project.

However, council members reacted coolly to the proposal, saying the cost might make it unacceptable to residents.
