NEWBURY PARK : 2 Teen-Agers to Be Returned to Arizona
Ventura County sheriff’s officials were preparing Wednesday to return two teen-agers who were captured in Newbury Park to authorities in Arizona.
Deputies captured a 17-year-old boy in the area between Kimber and Wendy drives about 2:30 p.m. Monday after a daylong manhunt involving sheriff’s deputies, dogs and helicopters, Lt. Bill Montijo said Wednesday.
The boy, a former Newbury Park resident, led authorities on two foot chases before he was cornered in a field.
A fugitive from an Oklahoma detention facility, the youth is wanted by authorities in Kingman, Ariz., on suspicion of robbery, kidnaping and theft.
Officers also arrested the boy’s companion, a 14-year-old female runaway, on suspicion of theft.
Montijo said the teen-agers are being held in juvenile hall pending extradition.
