CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : RICHMOND : 3 More Stricken by Legionnaire’s Illness
Three more workers at a Social Security Administration building have been found to be suffering from Legionnaire’s disease, bringing the total to four, with one death, a state health official said Friday. With four confirmed cases at the office, it is likely that the disease was caused by conditions at the Richmond building, said George Rutherford, head of the state Health Department’s Infectious Disease Division in Berkeley. The building will remain closed at least through the weekend, the federal agency announced Friday.
