The Region : Freeway Lane Closing Set

Share

Earthquake safety construction along the eastbound San Bernardino Freeway, beginning Monday and lasting for more than two months, will require that the highway be narrowed from six lanes to five and is expected to slow traffic from Los Angeles into the San Gabriel Valley, Caltrans officials announced.

The work, just west of the Long Beach Freeway, will be on a pedestrian freeway bridge, which will be seismically strengthened.

About a quarter-mile of freeway will be narrowed to five lanes, between Boyle Heights in Los Angeles and running east to adjacent City Terrace, an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County.
