A 21-year-old Oak Park man was charged with murder and possession of a prohibited weapon Wednesday in the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy earlier this month.
Philip Holsborg pleaded not guilty to both charges in Ventura County Municipal Court in connection with the slaying of Craig Hastings.
Hastings died Sept. 8 at Westlake Medical Center, two days after he was beaten with a baseball bat and then stabbed during a loud party at a condominium complex on North Oak Hills Drive near Avenue Soledad.
The weapon that killed Hastings was a pair of brass knuckles with a sharp dagger between the fingers, prompting the charge of possession of a prohibited weapon, Deputy Dist. Atty. Carol Nelson said.
Holsborg is being held in Ventura County Jail on $250,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was set for Oct. 2.
