Faria Wins Twice in Speedway Racing

Mike Faria of Colton won the four-lap scratch main event and also defeated four other riders in a $1,000 match race in speedway motorcycle racing Friday night at the Orange Country Fairgrounds.

Steve Lucero of Riverside was second in the scratch main event, Gary Hicks of Riverside was third and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa was fourth.

Shawn McConnell of Brea won the eight-lap handicap main event. Scott Brant of Riverside was second, Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was third and Faria was fourth.

The second-division main was won by Bob Richards of Colorado, and Jesse King of Huntington Beach won the third-division main.
