Gary Wellman, a former Westlake High and USC wide receiver, was activated by the Houston Oilers on Friday and could make his NFL debut Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Wellman was one of Houston’s final cuts before the start of the regular season and was signed to a berth on the team’s practice roster shortly afterward.

Wellman was the team’s fifth-round draft choice and the 129th overall selection this spring.
