Baldwin Park : Recognition for Missing GIs
A Baldwin Park couple whose son has been listed as missing in action in Vietnam since 1968 were honored by the City Council last week with a resolution supporting National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
Mayor Bette Lowes presented a proclamation Wednesday to Harry and Catherine Hastings. Their son, Steven, was 19 when his helicopter crashed on a combat mission. His remains have not been found.
A report describing a prisoner of war camp in South Vietnam identified Hastings as one of the Americans being held there, but the report has not been verified.
