Fan Says Writer Missed Mark on Miami Game
John Paul White (Viewpoint, Sept. 21) may well be right in his evaluation of football mismatches--in some cases. Some admittedly are scheduled strictly to pay the bills.
But when he included Miami-San Diego State as an example, he was far off the mark. This series was scheduled as a key part of the Aztecs’ dedication to move up to compete successfully at the highest national levels.
Perhaps he didn’t see or read about last year’s game, which Miami finally squeezed out, 30-28, after being clearly outplayed by the Aztecs. Anybody “stupid enough to buy a ticket” (to use Mr. White’s words) to see that game enjoyed one of the greatest games ever played in San Diego.
