Cal State Long Beach on the Road Again

Cal State Long Beach, which has not won on the road in more than two years, begins a stretch of four games away from home at 7 tonight against Arizona in Tucson.

The 49ers (0-3) have lost 13 consecutive road games since a 17-14 victory at Boise State on Sept. 16, 1989. After Arizona, CS Long Beach will play Nevada Las Vegas (2-1), Fresno State (3-0) and second-ranked Miami (2-0) in successive weeks.

The 49ers have been outscored, 127-47, and have lost eight starters to injury or illness.

Arizona (1-2), which has 11 starters back, lost to California, 23-21, last Saturday night at Tucson. CS Long Beach lost its Big West Conference opener to San Jose State, 32-20.
