Poly 48, Verdugo Hills 7--Jermaine Pledger, a senior running back, rushed for 170 yards in 20 carries and scored three touchdowns for the visiting Parrots.
Poly (2-1) rolled up 415 yards in total offense, including 360 on the ground. Verdugo Hills (0-3) accounted for 151 yards in total offense. The Dons’ only touchdown came on a 65-yard run by Donald Coulter, who rushed for 108 yards in 10 carries.
Pledger started the scoring with 46-yard and one-yard runs. Fellow running back Ronald Botley scored on a 25-yard run, and quarterback Lance Garcia scrambled 19 yards for the last touchdown of the first half.
