HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Glendale Pulls Out All Stops in 42-0 Victory Over Bell-Jeff

Pathon Rucker was the most lethal weapon in Glendale High’s attack Saturday night against host Bell-Jeff at Burroughs High. But he was not the only weapon.

Trying to broaden its arsenal, Glendale fired multiple offensive weapons and did damage with every one, blasting Bell-Jeff, 42-0, in a nonleague game.

Rucker, the Dynamiters’ 6-foot, 190-pound senior tailback, rushed for 145 yards in 16 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of five, 65, eight and 11 yards. He also scored a two-point conversion.

When it wasn’t Rucker, it was another Dynamiter. Senior quarterback Nathan Callister had an impressive game, completing seven of 14 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown.

Six of Callister’s completions were to wide receiver Mike Wright, including an 80-yard bomb to open the scoring early in the second period. Callister had a 52-yard touchdown pass to Wright called back in the fourth quarter because of a penalty.

Wright had 169 yards in receptions.

Senior fullback Gill Friedman rushed for 63 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
