Temple City : Lot Approved for Parking
Following the request of several downtown business people, the City Council decided Tuesday to turn a vacant city lot into a parking lot.
The land, at 5843 Temple City Blvd., was the site of a city-owned commercial building that was demolished because of damage from the recent Sierra Madre earthquake.
The city estimates that it will cost about $80,000 to turn the property into a municipal lot with 22 to 24 parking spaces.
The council rejected three alternatives for the site: building a senior center with senior housing, selling the land, or holding on to the property in its unimproved state.
