Taking it easy: Mater Dei kicker Brian Broadbent appeared disinterested in Friday night’s game against Santa Ana. When not asked to kick, he confined himself to the bench, where he sat holding his kicking tee.

“Last week, I got too involved in the game and missed an extra point and field goal,” Broadbent said. “This week, I decided to remain calm.” Calm worked.

Broadbent got up only three times, kicking two extra points and a 32-yard field goal. After kicking off, he would return to his seat, far from his teammates.
