Agirlfromars Wins Wire to Wire in Turf Feature at Oak Tree
Agirlfromars led all the way, beating Island Jamboree Thursday to win a $55,000 turf allowance for older fillies and mares at the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Alex Solis, Agirlfromars was chased by the favored Bequest, under Eddie Delahoussaye, over most of the mile until Island Jamboree rallied from last place to close with a rush but lost by three quarters of a length. Bequest was third in the field of five.
The winner paid $6.60, $3.80 and $2.10 as a 5-2 second choice. Island Jamboree, with Gary Stevens, returned $5.20 and $2.10, and Bequest paid $2.10.
Agirlfromars covered the distance in 1:33.48 and earned $30,250 for the victory.
