Dan Molnar intercepted three passes, returning one for a 27-yard touchdown, as El Dorado defeated visiting Fullerton, 17-13, in nonconference game Friday at Bradford Stadium.

Molnar’s first interception gave the Golden Hawks (3-1) a 14-0 lead with 8:13 left in the first half. His third interception stopped the Indians on their 45-yard line with about five minutes to play.

Before Molnar’s final interception, Fullerton (1-2-1) had rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to pull within four points with 8:38 remaining.

The Indians forced El Dorado to punt on their next possession, but failed to move the ball past their 26 with 2:11 left. The Golden Hawks then took over and ran out the clock.

El Dorado took a 7-0 lead on a 51-yard touchdown pass form Jim Beck to Blayne Leitner with 6:06 left in the first quarter. After Molnar’s interception return made it 14-0, Leitner added a 37-yard field goal with 6:29 left in the third quarter to put El Dorado ahead, 17-0.

But Fullerton scored on two consecutive fourth-quarter possessions on 11111 and 2-yard runs by David Chacon to make it 17-13. Chacon followed 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end Brian Wilber--inserted into the full-house backfield--into the end zone both times.
