VENTURA : Slow-Growth Units Endorse Villeneuve

Share

Two slow-growth political action groups have endorsed incumbent Deputy Mayor Donald Villeneuve for reelection to one of the three available Ventura City Council seats.

The Council for a Quality Ventura and the Poinsettia Umbrella League, which includes members of the first group, also recommended that voters elect other candidates, but did not go so far as to make formal endorsements.

The Poinsettia Umbrella League recommended that voters choose two of these three candidates: photographer Alan Berk, writer Keith Burns and write-in candidate Steve Bennett, a schoolteacher.

The Council for a Quality Ventura also recommended but did not endorse Burns for election.

Bennett is the former head of the slow-growth Alliance for Ventura’s Future.

Some leading members of that group split last spring in an argument over its role in politics and formed the Council for a Quality Ventura.
