Long Beach : 7th Street to Stay as Truck Route--for the Time Being

Share

The Long Beach City Council voted 4 to 2 Tuesday to keep 7th Street as a truck route between Santiago Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, at least until a city transportation report is considered next month.

The report deals with a broad range of transportation issues, including local trucking routes. Currently, Pacific Coast Highway and portions of Anaheim, 7th and Willow streets are the main east-west trucking arteries. But residents and business owners along both 7th and Anaheim have lobbied hard to get truck route designations abolished, complaining of dangerous traffic conditions, noise and vibrating buildings.
