NEWPORT BEACH : Motorist, 74, Injured in Car Collision
A 74-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday after his car collided with a pickup truck outside of John Wayne Airport and flipped, the California Highway Patrol said.
Donald Kitts of Newport Beach was airlifted to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he remained in the intensive care unit Thursday night, according to hospital officials.
Kitts had been driving south on Campus Drive at 1:20 p.m. when he apparently ran a red light at North Bristol Street and collided with the truck, said CHP Officer John Ortner.
Kitts’ car overturned and came to rest against a curb, Orter said. Kitts was not wearing a seat belt. The truck driver was not hurt.
