Dana Hills Uses Its Tough Defense to Beat University

Dana Hills utilized a tough defense to beat University, 24-13, in a nonleague game Friday night at Dana Point.

The Dolphins (3-0-2) took a 24-0 lead before University (3-2) scored two late touchdowns.

Marcus Jenkins rushed for 99 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Dana Hills.

Dana Hills took a 10-0 lead at the half as the Dolphins defense smothered University. The Trojans had minus 25 yards in the first half and one first down.

Following a 40-yard punt return by Jenkins, Rob Crummel kicked a 35-yard field goal with 2:51 left in the first quarter for a 3-0 Dana Hills lead.

Moments later, Dana Hills’ Josh Hadley recovered a fumble at the University 6 and Jenkins ran it over for a 10-0 lead.

Dana Hills sacked University quarterback Chris Peake three times for losses totaling 28 yards in the first half.

Leading the charge for the Dana Hills defense was linebacker Ho Pak and linemen Bennie Smith and Tom Faudere.

Dana Hills added two touchdowns in the second half on a nine-yard run by Jenkins and a 25-yard pass from Scott Covington to Robert Meeker.
