Lightning ignited two fires in the San Fernando Valley, damaging a business and a home, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported Saturday.
No injuries were reported in either fire, department spokesman Jim Wells said.
The first occurred about 10:20 p.m. Friday at an auto specialty shop in the 14000 block of Bessemer Street in Van Nuys. Damage to the business, Turbo Performance, was estimated at $200,000.
About 20 minutes later, lightning struck the attic of a Sun Valley home in the 11000 block of Leadwell Street, causing about $30,000 in damage. Residents were evacuated without incident.
