ORANGE TIGERS: Three local police agencies will soon try combining their helicopter operations in a bid to help reduce costs and give all of them continuous air operations. . . . “We see it as win-win for all of us,” Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ed McErlain says. In a November test, his department will join with Costa Mesa and the Sheriff’s Department to keep a copter in the air round the clock. In December, they’ll invite non-helicopter cities to join to see whether a local mini air force is feasible.
