WEEKEND TV : Networks Go to Bat for Nostalgia

Share

While CBS swings for the fences with baseball’s Fall Classic, the other networks will pitch some classic TV kitsch.

When we last saw those glamorous, bickering Carringtons, Alexis (Joan Collins) was plunging to earth from a hotel balcony, Krystle (Linda Evans) was in a coma and Blake (John Forsythe) was being carted off to jail after shooting a police officer. All three return alive and well, along with the rest of the gang, in “Dynasty: The Reunion,” airing at 9 p.m. Sunday on ABC (7)(3)(10)(42). The four-hour movie will conclude Tuesday at 9 p.m.

NBC (4)(36)(39) counters with “I Still Dream of Jeannie,” an update of the TV series starring Barbara Eden. Eden reprises her wacky genie in a bottle, this time with an even more revealing costume, and Bill Daily, her master’s best friend, is back too. But Larry Hagman, who played Tony, Jeannie’s master-hubby, long before he ever donned his J.R. Ewing cowboy hat, will not appear.

And if that’s not enough nostalgia, “Saturday Night Live” repeats a 1975 episode, hosted by then movie star Candice (“Murphy Brown”) Bergen, tonight at 11:30 p.m. (40(36)(39).
