Gunman Fires at Truck, Kills Driver
An unidentified man was killed Saturday when his pickup truck was sprayed with bullets fired by someone in another vehicle, police said.
Details of the shooting were sketchy Saturday night. Investigators were still trying to identify the victim.
Santa Ana Police Lt. Dave Nick said the man was eastbound in the 2100 block of Civic Center Drive when another vehicle pulled alongside. An occupant of the other vehicle fired several shots into the blue pickup, Nick said.
One of the rounds struck the driver in his shoulder, forcing him to turn into the driveway of a nearby residence.
The man asked residents to dial 911, but he died before paramedics arrived, Nick said.
The shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m.
Nick said investigators were interviewing several witnesses, but so far had no suspects in the case.
Investigators were also trying to determine whether the shooting was gang-related.
