FILLMORE : Santa Paula Man Dies in Collision
A 35-year-old Santa Paula man was killed Sunday after a truck collided with his car on Grimes Canyon Road, about five miles south of Fillmore, authorities said.
Santos Pineda Urbina was driving his Datsun north about 1 p.m. when a truck going in the opposite direction crossed the double yellow line and crashed into him, said California Highway Patrol Officer George Orozco.
Pineda was pronounced dead at 3:22 p.m. at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, Orozco said. He died of massive head and chest injuries.
The driver of the truck, Joaquin Aguirre Alfaro, 69, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and treated for minor injuries. Aguirre was later booked into Ventura County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail on suspicion of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.
