Pop Album Chart : ‘Wind’ Keeps Brooks on Top
- Share via
Country singer Garth Brooks is still the king of the Billboard magazine pop charts, with both “Ropin’ the Wind” at No. 1 and “No Fences” at No. 10. John Mellencamp’s “Whenever We Wanted” may not crack the Top 10. It entered last week at No. 17 but this week slipped to No. 20. Nirvana’s Geffen Records album, the trio’s first for a major label, is doing strong business, jumping from No. 65 to No. 35. Erasure’s “Chorus” debuted impressively at No. 29. Karyn White’s “Romantic” is the new No. 1 pop single.
* Reba McEntire is making a big splash on the pop chart with “For My Broken Heart,” which jumped from No. 24 to No. 14. There’s been enormous national interest in her--and a great outpouring of sympathy--since she lost her band in a plane crash this year. Pop Album Chart
