A 15-month-old Glendale boy who was bitten repeatedly on the head and face by his baby-sitter’s dog underwent almost four hours of surgery before he was released Tuesday from Childrens Hospital, police and family members said.
Kenny Gonzales was staying with neighbor, Josefiana Giron, 37, while his mother was at work Monday afternoon when Giron’s 2-year-old Australian shepherd dog attacked the infant, Glendale Police Agent Christopher Loop said.
Paramedics rushed the boy to the hospital, where a plastic surgeon and an eye specialist treated the injuries, the boy’s mother, Hilda Gonzales, said. The dog was being confined Tuesday at the Glendale Humane Society shelter. No arrests were made, but the incident will be investigated by an animal control officer, Loop said.
