Real Irish Hope Wins at Aqueduct
Real Irish Hope squeezed through along the rail midway through the stretch to move in front and held on to win the Costly Dream purse at Aqueduct on Wednesday.
Real Irish Hope, shipped in from Woodbine in Canada, was ridden by jockey Jose Santos and carried 115 pounds. She finished 1 3/4 lengths ahead of runner-up With Strawberries, the favorite in the race for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
Paris Rose, who led into the stretch, faded to third.
The victory was the second in 10 starts this year for Real Irish Hope who covered six furlongs on the fast track in 1:10 3/5 and paid $6.40 to win.
