PREP NOTES
Making his point(s): Mater Dei defensive lineman Josh Coggins got in some good-natured digs on his team’s offense after the Monarchs’ blew out Servite last week.
Coggins forced two fumbles, recovering one, as the Monarchs converted five Servite turnovers into four touchdowns and a field goal. The turnovers gave Mater Dei’s explosive offense, which had been sputtering, great field position all night.
“The funny thing about this game was that the defense played so well that our offense should have scored 100,” Coggins said.
Coggins and the Monarchs had to settle for a 44-0 victory.
